The key equipment that comprises the Temper Stretch™ CTL Line has been designed to work together as a system that delivers high performance, flexibility, low maintenance and close tolerances. Mouse over each box below for details.
EQUIPMENT SELECTED FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE AND COST EFECTIVENESS
High Performance
High Performance
TSC offers flatness, elimination of shape memory and processing speeds that match the best a stretcher leveler and temper mill CTL line can deliver.
Flexible
Flexible
Multiple stretcher and/or temper pass CTL lines are used to cover a range of thicknesses, production speeds and shape/surface requirements. One TSC line handles it ALL.
Low Maintenance
Low Maintenance
TSC is inherently low maintenance: (1) a Compact Temper Mill versus a traditional large temper mill, and (2) a Fixed Shear (no conveyors) versus a rotary shear + conveyors.
Close Tolerances
Close Tolerances
TSC offers the tightest possible sheet length tolerance by using a Fixed Shear, yet still achieves the fast line speed you'd expect from a rotary shear.

Compact Temper Mill
The Compact Temper Mill handles light gauge (up to 4 mm) so it’s much smaller and simpler (and less expensive) than the massive temper mills normally used in cut-to-length lines. It also operates at higher speed and requires much less maintenance. It’s ideal for light gauge coils because it’s much faster than a Stretcher Leveler, can remove coil breaks, and improves the surface appearance. The compact 4-high model developed for TSC can cover the entire intended product range with one set of rolls.

Stretcher Leveler
There is no better way to completely eliminate shape memory and achieve ‘stay flat’ sheets than stretcher leveling. The Stretcher Leveler of the Temper Stretch CTL Line primarily handles thicker material, and while it doesn’t reach the 61 mpm line speeds of the Compact Temper Mill, it is capable of processing a thick coil in a matter of minutes. The standard model handles material up to 18 mm, but an extra high capacity model for material up to 25 mm can be provided.

Roller Leveler
The Roller Leveler used in the Temper Stretch CTL Line is built for extended service duty with minimal maintenance, yet is fast and easy to set up. For coils that don’t have cross breaks and don’t require stress relieving, you would use just the Roller Leveler to produce flat sheets at a fast 84 mpm. Note that a roller leveler is needed for traditional stretcher leveler CTL and temper pass CTL lines, so this Roller Leveler is not an additional piece of equipment required for the Temper Stretch CTL process.

Fixed Shear and Stacker
The Temper Stretch CTL Line uses a Fixed Shear that handles the entire thickness range with ultra accuracy: +/-0.15 mm on sheet lengths when running 1830 mm sheets at 84 mpm! Some CTL line suppliers think you need a rotary shear for that speed, but rotary shears are ‘sloppy’ (+/- 3 mm), high maintenance, and require long conveyors that add to line length. The Temper Stretch CTL Line’s material feeding plus its rugged, low maintenance Fixed Shear delivers much better accuracy at lower cost in less space.

Coil Handling and Threading
The Temper Stretch CTL Line’s Coil Handling and Threading System is designed for multi-coil staging, offline prep (unbanding) and quick coil loading so that a line technician can begin unbanding and preparing a coil while the prior coil is being processed. The system includes a straightener or combination straightener/scale breaker to initially remove coil set and can flexibly accommodate various manufacturers’ ancillary equipment – turnstiles, coil cars – to configure a system to best suit your needs.

Line Control and Diagnostics
Advanced line controls and diagnostics make the Temper Stretch CTL Line easy to set up and operate plus extremely safe. The line operates much like a traditional CTL line except individual pieces of equipment set up automatically based on the operator inputting information such as if the material to be processed has coil breaks, or if the order calls for full stress relieving, etc.
